Andrew Rahrig grew up in Westerville in greater Columbus and attended
Ohio Northern University for civil engineering. He now works as a real estate representative for Marathon Petroleum in Findlay. He is also a member of the
Findlay Young Professionals, which he recommends as a great way to get young people connected to their community, offering both social and business networking opportunities.
Dining & Drinking
The Gathering has a third floor martini bar that is a popular place for young professionals.
Logan's Irish Pub has a fun, relaxed vibe, and
Alexandria's Gastropub and Brewery is local place that's kind of chic with over 40 craft beers on tap (including their own) and a large selection of cocktails with an eclectic dinner menu. For more of the late-night college scene, check out
Uncle Buck and Bordeaux's.
The Wine Merchant is a great beer and wine shop with wine tastings on Fridays and beer tastings on Saturdays.
In downtown Findlay, Andrew recommends
Greek Garden for casual Greek food,
Main Street Deli for lunch, and
Wilson's Sandwich Shop for fantastic burgers. For chocolates and ice cream,
Dietsch Brothers is a must.
Fitness & Outdoor Recreation
For those who lead a more active lifestyle, Andrew recommends you get involved in
City League Volleyball. The
YMCA downtown is a great gym for working out and they also have basketball leagues. Findlay also has a running club called the
Findlay Striders, and there's clubs for cyclists too.
Golfers have
Sycamore Springs, a great golf course located in Findlay. There is also
Riverside Park Waterfront and Waterfalls, where you can fish at the reservoir.
Arts & Entertainment
The
Hancock Historical Museum in Findlay covers the history of Hancock County. For art enthusiasts,
Rieck's Gallery sells art prints, posters, figurines, and also offers framing. Findlay is also home to many annual events, include the
Rib-Off held every July, the
Riverside Wine Festival in June, and the Winter Blues Fest held outdoors every February when they bring in bands from Louisiana.
